pad/s vs breast_pad/s

This is regarding Hillside Moose's suggestion in the plural/singular alias thread at forum #14788.

Looking at the wiki for pad, we do define it as specifically referring to "breast stuffing" pads, so I can accept the argument that it's a natural pair and should be aliased to the plural rather than the singular.

However, my question is also about if we want to stick with pad/s or go with breast_pad/s, since we're explicitly using them for pads used with the breasts. It seems r0d3n7z asked a similar question in forum #16021 but nobody replied.

I guess a secondary question, then, would be breast_pads vs breast_stuffing/bra_stuffing. It's a question of whether we're tagging the action or the item, and whether we need separate tags for non-pad related but non-surgical augmentation of the breasts.

Thoughts?

I'd second bra_stuffing here. I always thought pad was a bit generic and conceivably be used for something else.

I favor breast_pads. It's just me, but the word "stuffing" doesn't seem very intuitive when you're searching for falsies. That, and it looks like most of the posts under the pad tag are actual formed pads, not random things like wadded-up tissues or oranges or whatever.

If breast_pads seem too narrow, then breast_padding may be another alternative to consider.

I'd have to say bra inserts sounds the most intuitive to me, though losing one of danbooru's signature "terse tags" would be a shame :P

To provide some context: ~pad ~bra_stuffing has 41 posts.

10 of those actually involve expedient items such as included buns, fruit, etc rather than purpose-made breast pads.

7 of those have neither, only a joke or reference of some sort:
a) Protestations that breasts are real, and not padded: post #297705, post #328928.
b) Other Sakuya jokes: post #182460, post #184164, post #268841, post #268816.
c) Searching for lost breast pads: post #255207.

The rest are actual purpose-made breast_pads, but may or may not be worn, e.g. post #423794.

If we are going to use one tag for all of these possible meanings, breast_padding +1, because unlike the others, it can be loosely interpreted in order to cover all three.

I like breast_padding the most, for reasons others stated. It can be a noun or a verb, and can refer to actual purpose made breast pads or anything else that is used to enlarge the bust. It can also refer to the concept of breast padding, like in the "they're real!" Sakuya posts that were linked. It's also a natural extension of our current use of "pad = padding for breasts".

That's some incredibly useful ambiguity.

Alright, aliased a couple similar phrases to breast_padding.

Should I alias pad to it too, or do we want to leave that open for something else? It's so short and potentially useful for other things. I think I'll just put a note in the wiki page for now.

I'm in favour of not aliasing pad -> breast_padding.

The only use I can think of for pad is a blanket tag for athletic padding, like shoulder_pads or knee_pads.

I'm also against aliasing it, though I suppose we could if people don't notice the transitions.

There are also pads like the kind you sit on (similar to a cushion), kneel on, exercise on, or sleep on (similar to a mattress).
