In contrast to the case of Hoshimachi Suisei, for whom we did not have any art prior to her joining Cover, we do actually have at least three posts for Merry Milk that predate her joining .live on the 10th of June, 2019. However, given policy considerations since then, the Indie Virtual YouTuber tag renders that tag needless.
So vivo actually has the right idea on mass updating it, rather than just aliasing it.
