I'm not sure that all the commands will lead to renaming at once, because it was removed.
I would like to hear the opinions of the voters, because it is not clear what exactly does not suit. The problem clearly exists and needs to be addressed. This is one of the options.

First: commentary translated sounds really bad.
Second: The BUR makes completely no sense like that.

commentary doesn´t need to be nuked.
And you can´t alias commentary to one tag and then that tag to commentary again.

There's no reason to do that.

Just "create alias commentary_translated -> commentary" would have accomplished what I assume you were trying to do. I have no idea why nuking commentary was the end result of that, though.

Then you misunderstood the update.

You can just go with "create alias commentary_translated -> commentary" without having to add "unalias" to the BUR before.

OP's reasoning is sound, and would help prevent overuse of commentary english_commentary posts.

But it's not always translated. Take for examples commentaries that consist solely of a character's name in romaji.

I think that the above alias could be pursued and I would throw my support behind it, but only after the massive herculean task of tag gardening every single post with commentary, which would require agreement on the switch in tagging policy. Luckily the metatag commentary:translated can be used to filter out most of the chaff.
