alias edited -> third-party_edit

Posted under Tags

I'm opposed to this, while it can be mimicked by the two tag search, the main issue is that third-party_edit is nothing more than a renaming of "photoshopped" and retains its inherent definition that there has been direct alterations to the drawn portion of the image. The reason the tag was named edited comes from the fact that animation can be altered without directly altering the drawing, such as changes in frame timing.

Additionally a direct alteration to the image and edit to the animation is two separate things, and frankly should be separated, but given the fact that photoshop has been aliased to third-party_edit and edited has been implicated to third-party_edit there is now no way to differentiate an animation that has image alterations versus an image that hasn't had image alterations but animation alterations.

Is it possible to make a friendly name for the video and animation images, and alias for the pictures?
Example, animation_edited or edited_animation for animation.

The primary issues is that photoshopped used to obviously mean editing the visuals of the image and edited was for animations that generally only had non-image alterations. If an animation had both then it would have been tagged both photoshopped and edited. Now that photoshopped has been aliased to third-party edit there is no longer a way to divide between these meanings because edited was made to implicate third-party edit. Furthermore because of the naming, it obviously results in edited ending up confused for third-party_edit in usage. I have no issues renaming edited, but unless the implication to third-party edit is also removed or a new subtag specifically for visual edits is created then it won't serve a purpose having the tag.

I still think the tag is worth keeping though, which the easiest method would be then removing the implication to third-party edit and have third-party edit defined only for visual alteration of images. The tag though should be renamed to be friendlier with current naming. After the migration edited could be then aliased to third-party_edit, since it will be the most common case usage for the naming.
