Neutral on this change. The tag name though seems just under the length for text wrapping and the comparison on long pokemon copyrights is an apples to oranges comparison, since those long names are a combination of two game names to begin with and not a singular official name.

I'd also like to add that "Pokémon TCG" is an official name too. For instance, this official page has "Pokémon TCG" mentioned multiple times:
https://www.pokemon.com/us/pokemon-tcg/

"Take an early look at some of the incredible new cards that you’ll find in the latest Pokémon TCG expansion."
"Learn How to Play the Pokémon TCG!"
etc.

There is also the official computer game "Pokémon TCG Online", and the official mobile app "Pokémon TCG Card Dex".

Not saying Pokemon TCG isn't used officially, what I was saying is combined naming like Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen is an unofficial shortening to begin with, so there really isn't any issue with having shortened it further with another unofficial naming like pokemon_frig given the combined name's length. Official naming would explicitly treat them as separate by saying "Pokemon FireRed and Pokemon LeafGreen" or "Pokemon FireRed Version and Pokemon LeafGreen Version." This is why I was saying your comparison to this and your example was an Apples to Oranges comparison. Given that the current naming doesn't suffer from being so long as to cause text wrapping, I'm just stating that the change is simply unnecessary which is why I'm neutral on this.

Will note the info is under the "Trading Card Game" tab, and where there is space they do use the full name though, especially with the logos (example 1, example 2, example 3).

I see, that's right. I take your point, official material does not use the format "Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen". Fans and fansites use this format, but official material uses longer names as you said.

Honestly I'm not thrilled about a lot of these Pokemon abbreviation tags. As a non-Pokemon person, whenever I see tags like Pokemon DPPt or Pokemon LGPE it always takes me a minute to remember (or look up) what the hell these tags mean. Admittedly the full names are really long, so the alternative (using full names) isn't great either.

Hey, thanks for approving the alias.

I think I understand your point. If I don't know some franchise, I can get confused by their abbreviations. Been there. I've seen people talking about "TTYD" and turns out it was Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.

On the other hand, Pokémon fans often seem to use and know abbreviations like FRLG and DPPt. As in, if you're into Pokémon games, that seems like basic knowledge. Isn't it?

I've been thinking this way: The people who play the games probably know their abbreviations, so tags like pokemon_frlg help these people at least. For people that don't know the games or abbreviations, then even long tags like pokemon_firered_and_leafgreen would probably not mean much anyway.

Worst case scenario: If someone does not know anything at all about Pokémon, they will at least know that pokemon_frlg is somehow related to Pokémon because the tag includes "pokemon". And if it helps a little, I think all the wikis mention the full name at the top.
