Noticing two things about the wiki page for that tag. First, it doesn't specify how a pet collar is visibly different from any other collar, and second, it specifies that it has to be a person wearing a pet collar, even though the name strongly suggests that it would apply to pictures of (non-human) pets wearing collars.

I wrote the wiki minutes ago based on the posts on it. I don't think it makes sense for it to be used on actual animals like cats and dogs, from its usage it's more of a collar for characters that act like pets.

pet_collar vs dog_collar?
Hm, maybe the two tags should be merged? I see a lot of cases where dog collar is actually being used for cat-styled bell collars (post #3999239 or post #3652795 for example, NSFW).
Thoughts on making pet_collar the main tag, since it's more generic?

I always used dog_collar, because I didn´t know that pet collar exists. Pet_collar isn´t even in the normal "collar" wiki, but dog_collar.
I guess there is no reason to not merge them? I don´t see how someone really wants to search for the specific collars.
I think aliasing dog collar to pet collar or maybe both to animal collar would be good enough. This is another case where one tag came first (dog collar), then later people realized it's wasn't broad enough and created pet collar.
The bulk update request #4139 (forum #177132) has been rejected by @nonamethanks.
BUR #4161 has been approved by @evazion.
create alias pet_collar -> animal_collar
create alias dog_collar -> animal_collar
As above

Do not use this tag for shirt collars, or other collars attached to clothing.
@evazion need review implications posts and wiki:
brown_collar, pink_collar, grey_collar, orange_collar, green_collar, purple_collar, belt_collar, blue_collar, white_collar, red_collar, black_collar.
grey_collar, green_collar, blue_collar, white_collar - big part as shirt collars.
frilled_collar, studded_collar - say about fashion attribute.
Yes, the collar tag needs a lot of cleanup. There's a lot of mistagging from people using things like white collar for collared shirts, when collar is supposed to be only for standalone collars like in post #3736070.

I've been tagging colour_collar on detached collars, is this fine or are they supposed to only be used for the belt-like version?
Good question. Detached collar doesn't imply collar, but it's never been discussed whether it should. It was originally created in topic #6362 to separate maid and Playboy bunny type collars from regular collars, which are usually more like dog collars.
