remove alias kujo_jotaro -> kuujou_joutarou
remove alias kujo_jolyne -> kuujou_jolyne
Fixing the names to the spellings more commonly used.
Edit: Removing the older aliases first and then requesting another BUR.

When the whole romanization policy change was made (topic #17000), people specifically mentioned that they don't want to lose the distinction between long and short vowels. Rather, it was made to allow for alternative ways to represent those longs vowels.
This rename here goes against that discussion and long standing Danbooru policy.
Besides, the spelling you're suggesting isn't more common. Both MAL and anidb do include long vowels, e.g. Kuujou Joutarou:

I figured that is the case only because of how old those characters are and nobody bothered to fix it.
The wiki for the fandom uses the spelling I used. I have never seen this spelling used other than Danbooru.
People only bother to fix up the wiki when an adaptation of the part is released, that's why there's an inconsistency in the wiki for the "Kujo" name, but we already know how that looks so I figured it's fine.
To me this feels like the "tokyo" situation. "Joutarou" might be the more accurate spelling but literally nobody out there effectively calls him that, and calling him joutarou will make you look like an ass. Even google autocorrects you. It's still jarring to me whenever I look at that tag name even after years of being on danbooru.

+1 pretty much for the same reasons.
By the way, for consistency's sake, the rest of the Kujo family is: Kuujou Holly, Kuujou Sadao, Mrs. Kuujou, Kuujou Josefumi, and (technically) Kuujou Jouta.
I would not recommend using fandom wikis as sources or evidence for an argument, as the ad-infested nature of the website means most are poorly stewarded and built up in a haphazard manner by short-term visitors. Larger fandom wikis tend to move to their own hosting sooner or later, but Wikia/Fandom never deletes the 'old' wikis as a matter of policy (or, less kindly, a grift.)
In Jojo's case the largest independent wiki appears to be JojoWiki. This affects nothing when it comes to this particular argument since JojoWiki also uses the Jotaro Kujo spelling. Just a point of procedure.

I don't think it's a good idea to try to lump all romanization talk into a single thread, since they're almost never trivial and often devolve into long arguments.

Yeah that's my fault. I should have checked that first.
Anyhow I'm confused how to go about this now, it seems most people agree so I'm guessing the next step is asking for the reverse alias.
I can do that in this thread once I've confirmed that is what we'll be doing, and I'll add the other Kujo family members into the original BUR.
There's three cosplay tags in the Kujo/Kuujou family: kuujou_joutarou_(cosplay), kuujou_jolyne_(cosplay), and kuujou_holly_(cosplay). Should they be added to the BUR as well?

Renames and aliases take care of cosplay tags automatically.
So I changed the first BUR to remove the previous aliases. After that one is approved I'll do this one:
rename kuujou_joutarou -> Kujo_jotaro
rename kuujou_jolyne -> kujo_jolyne
rename higashikata_jousuke -> Higashikata_Josuke
rename higashikata_jousuke_(jojolion) -> higashikata_josuke_(jojolion)
rename kuujou_holly -> kujo_holy
rename kuujou_sadao -> kujo_sadao
rename mrs._kuujou -> mrs._kujo
rename kuujou_josefumi -> kujo_josefumi

Yes I noticed that too and I still think it's just that nobody bothers to update stuff until an anime adaptation.

Her last name has always been officially romanized as Cujoh.

But that's really old. Probably even before Part 3 came out. If they ever make a part 6 I'm sure they would change it to align with the current romanization everyone uses.

Is that the romanization everyone uses? Danbooru wouldn't have used Cujoh before because of the strict romanization policy, but if I Google "Jolyne Kujo" the first thing I see is "Jolyne Cujoh." It's what Wikipedia and Jojowiki use. You can't just assume they'll change it, I doubt people would be writing it that way without a reason.

I never thought of that because I haven't read part 6. I just assumed the spelling because it's her father's name.
