Ore lesion -> Oripathy lesion

Posted under Tags

I think the current tag is better.

Characters in the Arknights world can have oripathy without having ore lesions. It's a symptom, not a synonym.

Characters also don't suddenly stop having oripathy if the artist forgets or chooses not to draw them with ore lesions.

I know that, but "Ore lesion" is kinda clunky, and doesn't show up in originium_* autocomplete.

They only appear when you have oripathy, and there's the "Tag what you see, not what you know" policy. visible_oripathy would be longer and wouldn't show up on autocomplete either.

Your call, but I'll thumbs up if you do.

For the sake of filling anyone who reads this forum topic while unfamiliar with Arknights lore:

  • ore lesion (arknights) has a pretty descriptive wiki page
  • The most directly corresponding Chinese term from the original Arknights text is 矿石病病灶, literally oripathy/ore disease (矿石病) lesion (病灶)
  • This is officially translated as "ore lesion" in character bios (e.g. Silence (Arknights)'s)
  • Some bios (e.g. Blaze's) use the term 矿石结晶 (lit. ore crystal), which is translated as "crystal"
  • Some bios just use the term 结晶 (crystal), which is also translated as "crystal"

If a tag like crystal were used it's possible there would be some confusion with originium (arknights) (often but not always tagged simultaneously with ore_lesion as a sort of manual implication, it can also refer to background objects as in post #3866810, or references to the in-game "Originium" item as in post #3831957.) Lore-wise, it would also fail to differentiate lesions from internal crystals, though this doesn't matter for Danbooru because those are not visible and will never be tagged.

So something containing "lesion" seems like the better tag to me.
