I was thinking that it'd be a good feature for moderators or janitors and above to be able to "demote" recently posted images into the moderation queue.
Also I think it might be a good idea for contributors and above to have the option of being able to put their upload through the moderation queue.
I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts and opinions about these ideas.
contributors and above to have the option of being able to put their upload through the moderation queue.
No point in the latter. A person is made a contributor because they presumably can competently "moderate" their own uploads. It wouldn't hurt, but I don't see the point.

I can see this just ending in janitors/mods with conflicting tastes getting into a tug of war.
I think being able to demote images into the mod queue is a great idea.
That way, no matter who uploads it, it can still be debated.
About the tug of war, it will be obvious if a moderator/janitor is being a dickwad about it, and hopefully there would be moderation of the moderators.
Giving even more work to admins/mods/janitors isn't going to happen. If you think it sucks flag it for deletion, then a mod will decide if it's danbooru content.
If someone is perpetually uploading crap with a contributor account, mail jhx about it.
I can't say I haven't wanted to be able to do this before. But nonetheless, I'm with Log. And I agree with abdadeff that it can be potentially quite contentious.
It's not a bad idea in theory, in fact it's quite interesting, but I'm not feeling like the implementation would play out so well.

Sometimes I come across pictures that I personally like yet still have doubts about uploading. I usually try to avoid posting these to keep from abusing my privilege too much. It would be nice to instead be able submit them for normal moderation.

I can see this being useful, as I have posted a few images myself that I wasn't sure about, but in general I exercise common sense when choosing what to upload and what not to. A feature such as this would be useful, but it would increase the workload for Danbooru staff (not just because they'd have a few more images to moderate, but because albert would have to script it). As Slash said, it shouldn't be seen as a priority.

I don't like this. My problem with it come from the fact that - as earlier stated - not everyone has the same opinions. I think this feature would only cause drama, not only among staff but among the users of Danbooru as well.
"Once per mod"? What does that even mean? Once ever? Once per pic (which implies that there will necessarily be edit wars)? It sounds like it would take a lot of behind-the-scenes bookkeeping to implement, for little gain. I think flagging should be sufficient if it's really that bad.
The only part that makes a lot of sense to me, is if you are submitting your own work for moderation. In that case though the work is probably too close to the line to be worth posting.

And by and large, the only people who would use it would be people who are generally prudent enough to be trusted. Nobody is going to submit their real shit uploads for optional moderation.

Redundant, if a mod/janitor sees that your upload is subpar he or she can just delete it as opposed to putting it into a queue.

Sounds like just more work for the mods and jan. In retrospect I think this is a good idea, I'm sure some of us have uploaded something that you later regretted. Submitting it into a queue would be a nice way to double check if it meets standards.
