Happy Danbirthday to Danbooru! Celebrating 15 Years of Danbooru

Happy anniversary. For over a decade now, Danbooru has been one of the most important online databases for me.

I must admit I consider Wikipedia more essential for my needs, but... I would give up even Youtube rather than Danbooru if I had to choose. Still images and comic pages just offer me so much more than video clips.

The tagging on Danbooru is unparalleled among the image databases I know, and the quality of the (free!) translations is most often astounding.

If Danbooru as I know it has a major deficiency, that would be the relative scarcity of male-focus illustrations and yaoi comics. Most of the time, that does not disturb me much – but still, more of that stuff would be a plus.

My sincere thanks to everybody who has worked for this awesome site during its existence. Rock, rock on!

Happy Birthday, Danbooru!!! I've always thought of Danbooru as an internet museum and, after learning this, it can qualify as artifact of internet history, in and of itself.

It's really amazing to see how this site hsa grown and continues to be so steady, preserving more art for future generations (I hope more artists will see it as this, as well).

Reading this made me suddenly feel really old. I haven't been here for all 15 years, but I've been here for most of it, and while I don't check the forum regularly anymore, I still visit the website at least once per day (usually much more than that), and it's always been the very first website I bookmark whenever I get a new computer/tablet/phone.

But I don't regret any of the countless hours I've spent here, and I'm sure I'll still be around if or when the website ever goes under. Happy Birthday.
