Currently the mouse tag is ambiguous.
I wanted to know if I could add computer_mouse to images that have a computer and a mouse present.

That seems reasonable to me. It may also be good to have mouse_(animal), and leave mouse as ambiguous since it's pretty likely it will continue to be used ambiguously.
There's also a computer_keyboard tag to distinguish those from the ambiguous keyboard. Should we institute keyboard_(instrument) for the other kind of keyboard?
While we're at it, I get the disambiguation policy for artists & characters, but how do we do it for general tags? Seems to me that fully disambiguating into separate tags, noting it in the wiki, and leaving ambiguous tags empty of posts is the best way to get people used to the correct, unambiguous tags, and facilitate future disambiguation if the ambiguous tag still gets applied.
Is the tag there to accumulate pictures?
Well, there are girls who actually have mouse ears and tails growing out of them, so I can see that keeping the tag mouse for them makes sense. I can also see the animal mouse staying mixed with the tag.
I didn't realize keyboard was being used for ambiguous too, when I see the name I always associate it with instruments. ^_^
There is viola_(instrument). So I guess the tag itself works.
I think disambiguation policy for general objects is that the most prevalent gets the base tag, all others are given qualifiers. Hence we have bow and bow_(weapon). Given this scheme we'd keep keyboard as the instrument, and either computer_keyboard or keyboard_(computer) as the peripheral.
