Was there ever really a reason to have a separate "_(anime)" tag for this? And if this does get approved would it be possible to bulk update the 300 or so entries into this updated tag.

Yeah, I'm also wondering why we have this tag, do any other (browser) games get separate *_(anime) tags?

Many posts seem to be a catalog of anime-exclusive swimsuits for Yamato and Nagato, as well as webms of the show.

Shouldn't they technically still fall under a generic "kantai_collection" tag regardless?

There are also anime-only interpretation and anime-only characters to the series. Its function would be similar to like BRS (anime) tag

There are posts that reference events or costumes in the anime, in the anime's visual style, etc. How else are you going to find them? For a franchise with hundreds of thousands of posts, it's definitely needed.

anime coloring should suffice for the visual style.
Events or costumes from the anime could be given their own tags like Deremas costumes, if descriptive tags like criss-cross halter for Nagato's swimsuit don't seem adequate. (I think they are, personally.)

Id@lmaster is a pretty good comparison I think. Why should the KanColle anime get a tag when none of those anime series do (except for idolmaster xenoglossia, which is far more of its own thing than any KanColle anime, and the idolmaster movie)?

An implication makes sense given the fact that obviously everything in the anime falls into the franchise. I don't see any compelling reason to squash the tag though, it serves some purpose collecting a specific set of franchise characters in a specific context. I don't see it harming anything, and we lose information if we bulk-edit it away.
