Basically what should we call this. I have found and used rag but also dustcloth and wash cloth. It is also sometimes tagged with cloth, handkerchief or towel. Put it on a stick and it is tagged with duster. Often it is not tagged at all: post #1898660 post #2455932.
Any suggestions which tag to use and is there some distinction Im missing?
No problem getting rid of dustcloth. Some cases fit our definition of rag, such as post #663835, but others should be tagged with duster, like post #1022111 or post #1044474.
A wash cloth is used to wash people, whereas a rag is used on objects. It needs some gardening, but I think it's worth keeping wash cloth for things like post #2413533 or post #236743. I would never describe those as rags.
That's fine in general but as with wash cloth I should also not like to see various towels lumped in to a rag tag, as with the aforementioned dishcloth (e.g. post #2137).
