Hello.
There is a trend to tag the color of sailor_collars.
While this wouldn't be a problem per se, I think we should clarify when we should use them and if they should be implicated to sailor_collar as a result.
The reasoning is that they shouldn't be used on serafukus or similar school uniforms.
The following search {{serafuku *_sailor_collar]] contains over 190 pages, though. So the question that should also be posed is if it's ok to tag serafukus with the sailor collar tag.
I have no clue why they way people tag (use it on everything that has one) and the way the wiki is written (don't use it on school uniforms and sailor clothes) are different. I haven't been really sure what to do myself so my tagging has been pretty on and off about it, would be nice to get some clarity though.
In my opinion, the current wiki definition of sailor collar is fine but it's a hard one to enforce. I don't think the colored sailor collar tags should be restricted the same way (they should definitely be used on school uniforms), so they should not be implicated to sailor collar unless we decide to change the wiki definition.

I thought that neckwears (necktie, bowtie, neckerchief) are pieces of clothes that aren't attached to a shirt or similar. But isn't a sailor collar always attached to the shirt, dress etc.?

That's what I thought... o_O The colored *_neckwear tags are for neckwear, which are all things that can and usually do go around collars of all kinds.
However, maybe instead we could have colored collar tags (*_collar) that would cover all types of collars.

Sounds like a good idea, but I thought the collar tag is to be used for that choker-like thing that you occasionally see on a lot of bdsm works.
Not sure if the definition fits or if color tags can be excluded by it.

Should there be a recknoning as far as whether sailor collars should be used with serafukus/sailor dresses? I don't know. I am entirely willing to go with whatever consensus emerges on them. I wouldn't mind like, if we ruled out sailor collar as a tag all together in favor of ones such as serafuku, sailor dress, sailor shirt, sailor bikini/one piece. No opinion.

Would it be too convoluted to, perhaps, seperate out the belt-type collars from collar? For instance, rename those to collar_(belt), collar_(neck), collar_(choker), collar_(restraint).
This would be in order to use collar as a generalized tag for sailor collars, wing collars, other types of upperwear collars.

Yeah, I agree for the exact same reasons. They are typically both featured on a serafuku uniform and are most often not the same color. It would result in a significant loss of tagging precision if sailor collars were rolled into neckwear.
On a side note, I assume the colored serafuku tags are specifically meant for the color of the uniform under the sailor collar, like how post #2850798 is tagged? I have sometimes seen those tags used for colors that only apply to the collar, which I think would be mistaken since we have the separate tags for that.

I agree that if black_serafuku means anything, it's not the sailor collar or neckwear which count; they could be any color what matters is below.
I think however the skirt is an important part of it and that a dark navy blue blouse/shirt can work too so long as the skirt is black. So a serafuku with black_skirt + black_blouse/shirt or black_skirt + black_blouse/skirt would constitute a black serafuku. The concept is really ill defined, so those are the clarifications I think would improve it.
It's a bit slippery though as a working definition, and extended to other variations isn't so smooth. Blue serafuku could work, say for a blue_skirt + blue_blouse/shirt pairing. then again it's been used on post #2847612 for blue_skirt + white_blouse/shirt + blue_sailor_collar... Pink serafuku, which I regrettably made, has no coherence whatever. Others well, you can figure them out... I think a tag for skirt/sailor collar matches could be worth it, but granular x_serafuku tags besides black are... slippery.
I think the black variation is most workable of them and is actually a nice tag to have. If this divergence needs it's own thread I'd be fine to continue this discussion there.
