[REJECTED] Naruto - Missed searches

I realise they have no tags; however through deduction it seems they are what new users are trying to find.

So you're saying we need aliases for every single character tag with character_(copyright)?
Having those only for a couple of Naruto characters doesn't sound consistent at all, along with the idea of doing this kind of alias for every character tag sounding pretty dumb.

I'd be for the above aliases, if not for the fact that fate is still one of the top missed searches after umpteen years of never having such a tag. For those with autocomplete on there's no excuse, as the top tags related to fate would show up since they all start with fate.

So users are either dumb and not paying attention to autocomplete, or users are not using autocomplete at all. Either way, it indicates that neither of the above aliases would help with the situation.

?
What has autocomplete to do with that.
Either i'm missing the obvious, but when hinata_(naruto) hyuuga_hinata shouldn't appear in the autocomplete list. Maybe because people don't really know the family name of that char...

Better to have it than have it not.

Useless aliases only bog down the server needlessly. This is a case of risk management. Sure, we could create millions of aliases for every little possible item to account for every character and missed search ever, but then the server would come to a grinding halt anytime an alias or implication was queried. Given all evidences, I feel it's better to just accept the risk that user's might occasionally have a missed search rather than applying a band-aid that may or may not even alleviate the problem. Basically, there would be a cost with no provable gains.

When I recall correctly, the missed search lists shows tags that are not used. If possible, one should always create an alias then.
And in this case, it makes even sense since there are over 100 hits. Those two aliases won't bog down anything and it also won't be done for every tag, only where it makes sense.

^We'll, I guess we can at least agree on the fact that we disagree. I'll just sit back and see where this goes... <__<

Don't know if we had such a case ever, but would be nice to have some precedent if something similar should happen again.
