Excessive size on the detachable edit box

I've heard some criticism of the new edit box size which was changed from 33% to 60% seven days ago with commit 5448ae5. I'll admit that while it doesn't look too bad on my netbook (1024 x 600), it does look rather large on my desktop (1920 x 1280).

What do others think though?

It just looks wider to me. You can always adjust the size if you want.

I think it feels too large and often covers too much of the image, I feel like it would be better if the size reduced by something like 1/3.

The thing is that you have to do it every time you open the window since the size doesn't save.

Oh, that's why I've suddenly had to shrink it down every single time I upload something... is this something I can automatically adjust on my end with CSS, or would it take a userscript?

It would take a userscript if the setting stays the way it is. I haven't tested it yet, but I believe that setting it with CSS would make the size constant and unresizable...?
