Incorrect Date Modified

I've noticed the date modified timestamps on the images I downloaded don't match the date modified timestamps recorded to the server. Most of the incorrect date modified timestamps have a variation of february dates which is even more odd. It also doesn't matter what tags I use and at first it primarily affected older images but some newer ones are displaying this as well. I've disabled scripts, programs, and plugins but that didn't change anything either.

Not entirely sure how long this problem has been going on for and I'm completely stumped.

First off, are you talking about images downloaded to your hard drive, or is it something else...?

Also, please describe the problem better. Uploading and linking to images displaying the issue would also be helpful.

Pretty sure he's talking about hard drive, as I also order everything by 'date modified'. That said, is the February date modifieds that are not the same as the server's from different years? When I need to update a date modified forcefully, I add something to the Details metadata (Or whatever it is).

Really...? At least on Windows 7/8 using Chrome/Firefox, and saving the images to disk, it sets all of the timestamps (Created/Modified/Accessed) to the time of download.

Ah my bad I could've sworn I included some examples in my prior post.

Anyways here's only a few examples but there's a whole lot more.

I've also attached a screenshot in this post using one as an example to help illustrate the problem and I'd be happy to supply more if needed.

EDIT: Original dates are Danbooru and New dates are what's listed on my hard drive again sorry for the terrible explanation.

Oh images downloaded to the hard drive. The date modified on the hard drive is different from the one listed here on Danbooru. I've attached a screenshot below and each of the ones I've listed above has mismatched modified dates.

Yeah sorry I forgot to mention hard drive haha. They're from this year when they're actually supposed to be from several years ago.
If it helps I can supply more screenshots of the individual posts I mentioned as well as many more if it will help clarify the problem. Maybe I overlooked something and I hope it's nothing too serious lol.

Well, the Date Modified should by default display the date you obtained (downloaded) the file. With archives it is different since you're receiving someone else's image. At least, that is the case for me, are you running a script to download the server's copy of the image or something rather than creating a new one for yourself? Perhaps one of the many updates that Danbooru has gone through modified some of the information data on images held on the imageboard.

I think I'll probably defer to BrokenEagle or Mikaeri as this sort of file management stuff is far beyond my ken, my expertise is more predisposed to Photoshop wizardry.

Oh, well that explains that. Images in the lower post ID range have been moved from Danbooru to an Amazon Web Server right around the February 2017 timeframe. You can tell which images have been moved as they have cached in the URL path.

As a side note, I still don't get how you're downloading images so that the timestamps aren't set to the time of download...? :/

Ah I was using just the downthemall plugin with no scripts to save about a dozen images until I started noticing the errors. Then I switched to just right-click saving but it still gave the same result. Then I tried scripts, downloaders, programs, switching browsers, different computers, and so on much to no avail.

Ohhhhhhh that does explain a lot!

Well I guess I can just let it be if that's the case. I mean if it really bothers me I guess I can just batch redate them to my liking. I just preferred using Danbooru's date modified time stamp out of convenience. I was worried that the time stamps were not the only errors. But as far as I can tell all the files on my hard drive match the size and dimensions to the site so I guess I can breathe a sigh of relief.

Some downloaders, such as wget, set the file modification date to the content of the "Last-Modified" header field in the HTTP reply, if the server sends it along.

You could also use the created_at field in either the JSON or the XML to set the image timestamps.

If you want to take into account image replacement, you can query the post replacement controller.

The last modification date is an internal server detail. It shouldn't be relied upon, since there's no promise that it won't change if and when the image hosting situation changes.
