The first arc of mahoiku (the one that the anime covered) doesn't have any official "subtitle," but is well-known among the Japanese fandom as 無印 and among the Western fandom as "Unmarked." That's why I think it's best to tag fanart of the first arc with its own specific tag, and leave the mahoiku tag as the umbrella for the franchise.

The proposed aliases are inline with the current mahoiku -> mahou_shoujo_ikusei_keikaku alias, a needed convenience.

The proposed implications are similar to how we handle Precure copyright implications.

I feel the need to point out that Japanese Digimon fans also refer to Digimon Adventure as "無印" (while calling Digimon Adventure 02 "02"), so it might just be a general term the Japanese use for any series that doesn't have a subtitle.

The niconicopedia entry for 無印 (mujirushi) talks about this. "For a series of works such as anime, games, novels, etc., a designation usually indicating the first work." In particular, it's to avoid confusion between a first work and the overall series, when the first work shares its name with the series and was the only one without a subtitle or number. Also sometimes called "初代○○" or "○○(初代)" (original/first ○○) or "○○1". And if there are multiple versions of a sequel, the original version may be called 無印. For example, the original Persona 3 is called 無印 to distinguish it from FES and Portable.

I think the first place I came across this was maria-sama_ga_miteru, where the first book and first season are referred to as 無印.

Googling アニメ 無印 (anime mujirushi) mostly finds results about Digimon Adventure and Pokemon.
アニメ 初代 (anime shodai) results are mostly Pokemon, along with some Digimon, Duel Masters, and Precure.

G-Santos and Laethiel: Sorry, I can't tell whether you two are agreeing or disagreeing? Just to be clear, I'm not suggesting tagging the first arc of mahoiku as unmarked, but specifically mahou shoujo ikusei keikaku unmarked (that should be obvious from the alias request in the OP). I've also already tagged any appropriate image with that tag, and elaborate the multi-arc nature of the franchise in the umbrella wiki mahou shoujo ikusei keikaku. We just need to make uploaders be aware of it, because anime-only people will likely only know the umbrella tag.

EB: I personally prefer Unmarked since it's really well spread among the English novel readers, but any consensus is fine.
