I neglected to use the eyebrows_visible_through_hair tag a lot because of how lengthy it is to type every single time, so I'm requesting shortcut tags.

How about using just 'th' instead of 'vth'? Yeah it's not perfectly transliterated, but I feel it's a better flow of typing for the prospective uploader, since 'eyes' is all on the upper two sets of keys and then suddenly 'v' is thrown in from the bottom set.

So you're saying something like this?

alias /eyesth -> eyes_visible_through_hair
alias /eyebrowsth -> eyebrows_visible_through_hair

I think that's a little confusing if taggers are expecting the word 'visible' to be part of the shortcut. I know I would be, unless the /*vth variants are likewise aliased to the /*th versions.

To be honest, it'd just be faster to turn on tag auto-completion, since you only need to type out eyes/eyeb before those two suggestions show up, requiring less keystrokes than these shortcuts.

But regardless, my suggestion is purely from an ergonomical standpoint of minimizing unnecessary motion such as reaching for the 'v' key. To be honest, the only shortcut I know is /hooe, it's not like these shortcuts are listed anywhere on the main page, from what I've seen.

I like /evth and /ebvth better. If we're going to make shortcuts we might as well make them as short as possible, and I doubt that there's anything else that can stand for those things.

Updated the request to use /evth and /ebvth as the shortcuts.

I had no idea that the autocomplete existed, so let me give that a whirl.

You can list all shortuts by searching for /* in tag aliases

Protip: you can use '*' wildcards during autocomplete for shortcuts like this. e.g. type e*v*t* or *brow*vis* or *vis*hair* to filter out all the eye* tags and narrow it down to the *_visible_through_* tags.

I'll think about using it more in the future. I just wish that when a tag comes up in auto-complete that you can use the directional and enter keys to select tags from it instead of having to go back and forth with the mouse and keyboard. I tried that with an upload but it uploaded the image instead when I didn't finish tagging.

So with all that said, would it be better to reject this request and rely on auto-complete instead?

Use tab instead of enter to accept the completion. You don't need the mouse.
