Twitter uploads and some stuff

Posted under General

I think this is a pretty technical question so I think calling @Type-kun or @Toks here should help.
It's about pixiv uploads and twitter uploads. I just wanted to upload this file here from pixiv and I know it has a twitter upload (even before I tried uploading it). But danbooru told me that the md5 had already been taken. This happened twice and both today. It has never done this before with twitter uploads.
So I wanted to ask if twitter has changed something or if this is a bug or if the files are really identical and this is just bad luck.

Have you compared the file size and other file info? I've noticed that the system no longer shows file size or date using the bookmarklet, and hasn't for the last two months or so.

Those are the infos I got from this upload using the bookmarklet. It does only show the size.
But I just compared it and they seem to be the same. But that's not good to say since I've never done this before, so I don't know how this looked with twitter-pixiv upload before this case here.

The full image on twitter and the full image on pixiv are exactly identical.

I don't know how pixiv and twitter optimize their images, but maybe they both decided this one didn't need optimizing because it has a small filesize already. Or maybe they both use the same program and same settings to optimize images.

They have the same md5, so they're the same file. Either it miraculously escaped Twitter's recompression, or the artist uploaded the post-Twitter version to Pixiv.

I can confirm this as well. As for the uploading timeline, it's most likely the latter but it doesn't make sense why the artist would upload the Twitter copy instead of the original.

MD5 hash is 81EE51435C823026447BDC6257A075D0, by the way.

The original might be lost, but I guess it was a slip up. Shit happens.
