User mentions now available

In forum posts and comments you can now type @ in the body and you'll get an autocomplete prompt with user names. If you @ mention someone they'll receive a dmail notification linking them back to the original comment.

The release was only made and pushed to live several hours ago. And only comment mentions were in the last release 21 days ago.

It was added for forum posts a few months ago and for comments a few weeks ago, though the autocomplete didn't work when creating a new forum topic until just now.

Just as a suggestion, it may be helpful to make the "reply" button automatically include the "@" rather than the quote in order to help people utilize the change (despite liking this improvement I have only remembered to use it once). Although I am not certain how difficult programming that would be.

That would be annoying. Dmails are usually personal messages. I think user mentions are best used when the user in question has to be notified about the thread.

Besides, your own email could do the job for you.

I think the topbar/click to close announcements bar can be set up for mentions alerts if it clutters dmail boxes.
