Quick Twitter/Pixiv upload question

Posted under General

If I upload something from Pixiv/Seiga/etc. and the exact Twitter post is uploaded earlier (and I mean the same res), the Pixiv/Seiga/etc. one is the Parent and the Twitter one is the child? Like, for instance, post #2025806 and post #2017318.

And, for that matter, am I allowed to go on a binge if the Twitter post was uploaded first?

Pixiv posts were usually the parents while Twitter posts were always the children. Meanwhile Pixiv and Seiga relationships were always determined by the revision tag.

There's no rule saying that we're not allowed to get pictures from twitter, if a post with higher resolution shows up in either Pixiv or Seiga, we can always used the Parent/Child relationship if the ones in twitter already been uploaded.

Generally, the Pixiv version should usually be the parent. Twitter automatically compresses JPEG images with noticeable artifacts and I believe even with PNG images the filesizes are altered. There may be rare exceptions where the artist uploads an even more compressed version to Pixiv (and in that case the Twitter version would be parented), but I doubt that happens much.

You can, but I personally wouldn't upload a duplicate if the twitter image is a png, unless there's been a revision or the resolution is different. File compression sizes aside, the image quality would be the same regardless given the lossless nature of the image format.

@EB, I find people will always parent the pixiv post, because even when the twitter png's filesize is higher, the parenter argues that the compression algorithm is inferior.
