Nintendo related tags

Tags like nintendo, super_smash_bros. and mario_(series) are in a bit of a mess.

nintendo is being tagged sporadically to posts that are related to the company, generally because their series is made by them. As far as I know it's supposed to only be used when there's a crossover between two of the company's franchises. In that case, should the majority of super_smash_bros. be tagged with nintendo, excluding those that are exclusive to it (i.e. tabuu) or when the crossover(s) aren't all nintendo franchises (such as just sonic and mario only)?

There are also some posts that should probably be tagged with super_smash_bros. (like post #992414) but aren't.

And for mario_(series), are all the Mario related games supposed to be aliased to it? Should it include the Wario and Yoshi copyright tags too? And what about the tag super_mario_bros.?

They need a bit of a clean-up but I need to know when they're supposed to be used.

You're correct about the use of nintendo, and with using it on smash_bros images as well, I'd say.

Not sure about wario and yoshi implicating mario though.

Was this discussed before and had no agreement reached? I'll give my thoughts then:

• mario_(series) should be the catch all for Mario and its sub-series (like Wario and Yoshi, but not Donkey Kong).
• super_mario_bros. should be used to separate itself from the other sub-series. Meaning something that is WarioWare would include mario_(series) but not super_mario_bros, unless Mario is present.
• nintendo should be used for any crossover of Nintendo franchises, which includes the vast majority of super_smash_bros. posts.
• super_smash_bros. remains the same, but should only be used in instances where there's at least the slightest hint of it being Smash Bros. related, otherwise it's just a crossover image.

Sounds good to me.

Before a request is made from forum #11586, I'd like to note that Nintendo of America seems to be branding the Mario series as "Super Mario" (no "Bros."). Doubt we tag Mario's "Super" form enough for there to be any conflict.

I was going to mention that but I wasn't sure if that would be agree upon. I'm for changing super_mario_bros. to super_mario or super_mario_(series)
