Yes, i have been trying to think on how to deal with that particular record- but so far it has eluded me.

Personally, the negative is too much. I would do something about it but only after consensus is made as to not rustle any more.

I know the record system has always been pretty arbitrary, but I'm pretty sure getting butthurt that a translator won't translate something you want doesn't warrant a record, much less a negative one.

Relatedly, can we get some solid guidelines in how to use Neutral records? It runs the gamut from people using it as mild Negatives to pseudo-dmails.

I would think that the neutral record would be something to be used if dmails are being ignored, since ratings might be taken more seriously, regardless of not being a negative one.

Edit: To expand on my post, I'm talking about cases of insufficient tagging, or improper sourcing and the like.

Neutral records should be given either as a warning if someone isn't doing something appropriately as a wake up call, but I dislike it when people give out records without any history of dmail. I've had one record given in which the person never contacted me via dmail to talk about the issues, so I think there should at least be some attempt to contact a person first.

In this case, I don't think its worth a record. Unlike tagging, notes are optional and are a lot more time consuming. I've made requests that have gotten ignored for months before the translator found the time to do it, so I wouldn't go as far as give a negative record to a user, especially one with a good record and no prior infractions at all.

Its the kind of thing that causes unneeded drama and makes a private matter public.
