It sounds like those two were only half-watching the movie since:

  • While it's true Steven didn't call the Diamonds, he did seriously consider it.
  • The rejuvenator didn't permanently wipe the Gem's memories. It was more like factory resetting a computer while keeping the files instead of a total wipe.

They could've pointed out how most of the poison that was supposed to be potent enough to kill everything on Earth somehow didn't turn Beach City into a lifeless wasteland (yes, it did a lot of damage, but no more than your run-of-the-mill natural disaster) and only caused Greg's arm to become necrotic upon contact. If it were really as dangerous as claimed, a single drop should've been enough to take out a town of that size. I liked the movie and all, but it really pushed the limits of my suspension of disbelief.

Steven's pink skin in the third panel is a nice touch, though. Those two might want to leave now while the theater's still standing.

    Indeed.

People, say what you want about Steven Universe, the Movie, and even Future, but I still enjoyed it for what it had.

I'd also like to add to the Rejuvinators bit. Even if their purpose was to "Factory Reset" Gems, the fact that they could go back to normal by making them relive what they've forgotten shows that the Rejuvenators were failures. Hence why Homeworld stuck to using the Tuning Fork shaped Gem Destabilizers.

Regarding the Diamonds. If Steven hasn't made it perfectly clear at the start of the Movie, and at the End where they decide on making a surprise visit, Steven doesn't like the Diamonds and wants them to have little to nothing to do with Earth. It's surprising that he even entrusted Spinel to them, given how they were like in the Original Show Proper.

Good points, especially about the Era 1 Rejuvenator. I'm just wondering whether the artist meant for us to agree or disagree with the girls' commentary.

The moment where Tewi realizes how stupid it was to challenge someone, that has perfect memory as their explicit ability, to a game of memorization.

EDIT: Though to be fair, Tewi was doing pretty decent with abusing her max luck stat for quite a while.
