I directly contacted him through Facebook and showed this version, and he approved. A story link is not a good idea since it vanishes after 24 hours.
I assumed you managed to grab the artwork from his Instagram story without the Portuguese text overlaying it. Also, if you did source it from his Instagram story, the story link would be valid. We have bad id/bad instagram id for accurate sources, but their links are dead.
Anyways, I guess you didn't link his Facebook as the source because his Instagram handle is in the post or you found it on Instagram originally? Also, you could've left it as a non-web source too and left a comment saying you got a full-size PNG from the artist himself by contacting him on Facebook. That'd work too.
Oh and for anyone interested, the artist uploaded an unwatermarked, but lower resolution version on Facebook if anyone's interested in it. (Archived: asset #22583709)
Still good on him for honoring the purchase even if he gripes a bit about it.
As proprietor he has every right to deny the 'cheating' and even get the two removed from the store not because of their species but specifically because they have this kind of capability, but good on him for putting up with it.
Good on every human in the MoGal-verse who sucks it up and just deals with powers they can't fully understand or anticipate.

Besides, the headache of trying to create a rule that denies them the ability to "cheat" while still honoring that that is just the way their species is isn't worth the trouble.
That said, I wouldn't be surprised if some of these shop owners start to get wise to this and start doing some shenanigans to try and turn those abilities back on them.

This is basically a Newsstand or LGS meaning that the manufacturer of the products is the one that needs to think up countermeasures. Surely they could do so with their R&D budget even if the law frowns on it.

If he didn't know which one was special, this wouldn't work. I'd say this one's on him.

Considering the Medusa incident rather than suck up it's more like they don't care as long as it's not that that's being bothered.
