Downvotes are understandable but from an archival perspective we need these kept here. Imagine if we found that nazi Germany had anime girls, or North Korea made a manga. Everyone would be interested to see them.
She is Gorgeous! Im out of words how well Hoshi did her hair as it reflects her resilience during the battle of Tassafaronga perfectly. And the rope she carries is a good setup for what would come next when you see her damage CG and how well her crew managed to hold her afloat with what it was a makeshift brace. The long splitted skirt really gaves the Tuscaloosa-class a distinctive appearance as a class.
I really love how prude KanColle shipgirls are for the last years on a general basis and i know there are always exceptions but even those in comparison with most other "all main fictional female cast" IPs look less "on your face" for lack of better word.
As Ironic as it sounds, trying to not explicitly show off how over the top or/& lewd you can make your characters somehow ends up making a distinction specially since it seems C2staff is doubling down on taming the characters more even including their damaged CGs.

I believe the rope is actually a reference to when she had to tow Saratoga after she got hit by Nimu (I-26) in '42.
Of course the in-game model would look solid. Setting that small part up to be animated sounds like the kind of obnoxious attention to detail Gust don't engage in.
If they're crystals, why do they leave exhaust particles?
It's liquid, bro.
The heels don't even have a hole for any liquid or matter to pass through. It's MAGIC. Anyway, based on the character sheet we have here it is something like a magical emitter with energy crystal rods as fuel.
Le duh. It's a game about an alchemist in a sword-and-sorcery setting, of course it's fucking magic! What I'm saying is that it's a potion or concoction of some kind rather than a magic crystal.

What do you base this theory on? Is it in the untranslated bits, can you read Japanese?

Look, I don't know how to put this without making it offensive, but I PLAYED THE GAME. It's IN THE GAME.
And you're not only wrong, you're missing the premise altogether. In this game, Alchemy is both forbidden and lost art since the last disaster it brought against humanity, and the world is currently depending on science (to be precise, magitech) instead of pure 'magic'.; Yumia is part of survey team assigned to research alchemy in order to prevent future calamities, and that's why the game is unlike 'normal' atelier series where magic is mainly the focus: potions are practically nonexist in the whole world until she can make them in story progression; Yumia uses a gun-staff and she synthetized the bullets using mana, it would be really weird to power her shoes with potions, no? Not to mention, at the beginning of the story Yumia is barely an alchemist; how'd you explain her shoes powered by a 'potion'? Or Flammi the lamp, a hand-me-down from her mother which also powered by the same thing?
And if you're still doubting that explanation, just play the game or watch a playthrough of it.
Maybe you should've lead with that, would have saved us both a lot of time.
Not sure if you insisting it's a liquid going to save time, even insisting that the light trail was 'exhaust particles', but sure, if there's a next time.
It's important to note that if Mr. Araki does a character sheet for Jonathan now, he would most likely change his measurements. There's this Q&A he did with Lucca comics, where the interviewer was asking him why Jonathan is not buff anymore and that he looked like a Sailor Moon character now. Mr. Araki said something along the lines that he now draws Jonathan with the intended, "correct" proportions. In short, implying that skinny Jonathan is the canon Jonathan now. Considering Dio has always looked more or less around the same size as Jonathan, he would probably have had different measurements if this character sheet was released around the time of Phantom Blood.
Another change that Mr. Araki did would be Dio's age being 18 now when in an old fact sheet from a 90's artbook (JoJo 6251), it was mentioned that he was born around 1867-68, which would put him in the 20-21 age range considering the timelines. If his height was also included in that fact sheet, it would definitely be different to what it is now.
If I remember correctly, the character sheet for Dio stating his height as 185 cm was released around 2022. At that point, the way Mr. Araki designs characters has drastically changed. Looking back on how he used to design characters originally, especially a character like Dio, his current height of 185 cm just simply doesn't make sense.
Sorry if I was rambling but all I want to say here is that originally, perhaps Dio's height probably would've been closer to Jonathan's.

I think Araki was being like George Lucas about it. He would likely say the same thing if he drew Jonathan in the late 90s.

I disagree. Mr. Araki's perception of how characters should be has drastically changed over the years. It's not just the artstyle. The characters themselves have been retconned. He's moved on from that "big, buff dude" design. With how he designs Jonathan now, let's just say people would riot if he released a new character sheet for him
