Actually, this reminds me: wasn't it stated somewhere by mihoyo that, when the characters speak in their voicelines, they're actually speaking to the player and not the Traveler? Or is that specifically for Birthday lines? Either way, it'd be kind of interesting if some characters were aware of the 4th wall in some way.
I don't know whether to be a flattered fool or be a terrified buffoon by that expression he's making at the end. Yeah, what Alixiron said. A lot of the time you just have to make assumptions (sometimes obvious like this one, sometimes more difficult) based on context if you don't wanna end up with sentences that work in Japanese but are awkward or even nonsensical in English.
The sentence may just say "Some days later, went fishing as an apology for abandoning." but we know from reading the story who it was that abandoned whom.
