I only now realized that the commentary title is in reference to this comic. 阴影 by itself means shadow, but the full phrase in the comic was 心理阴影 "mental shadow" or "trauma" hence why I translated it like that.

Actually, this reminds me: wasn't it stated somewhere by mihoyo that, when the characters speak in their voicelines, they're actually speaking to the player and not the Traveler? Or is that specifically for Birthday lines? Either way, it'd be kind of interesting if some characters were aware of the 4th wall in some way.

I don't know whether to be a flattered fool or be a terrified buffoon by that expression he's making at the end. It's like he's gazing through my chainmail armor behind this screen of mine and straight into my soul like he is offended by my existence puppetting his dear Traveler and is about to rip up some laminate wood floorboards and destroy me.

Which makes sense because he's the Archon of Anemo which often represents freedom.

Freedom I'm infringing upon whenever I turn on the game and take control of a character.
