Based on the apology tweet it sounds like they submitted hanatsuki's works as reference material without making sure that they could actually use them. Images don't look like a trace either, just the same outfit copied form the reference by a skilled artist.

I'm aware that there is no concrete way to say whether he is using AI or not. I wouldn't disagree if people choose to think he isn't, but personally I do, and one making-of isn't enough.
First off, he tries to deflect the accusations by the typical "bro I'm bad at drawing hands" route but This one has a middle finger just randomly poking out and bent to the side. And this one has straight up broken arms, a problem that even amateur artists don't make. And I can tell you exactly why it happens after having tried AI myself: AI is especially bad at doing crossed arms without human intervention.
