"人は見かけによらない" seems to be an expression meaning "you can't judge a book by its cover', restricted to people. But in this case, the kanji 人(person) was replaced with 妖精(fairy) with the furigana ひと, which is the pronunciation of 人 (妖精 is pronounced ようせい). As far as I know, this usually means that the speaker says ひと but means 妖精.Come on, we're going!
