The most common finch in central Australia, also a popular pet.
Males feature a bright red bill, a distinctive black-and-white “moustache” mark and a prominent rust-orange cheek marking. They are gray above, with barred grayish bib, rusty white-spotted flanks, and black-and-white tail pattern.
