wonder momo
A beat 'em up arcade game that was released exclusively in Japan by Namco in 1987.
The game puts the player in the role of the heroine of a (fictional) Ultraman-type series. Unusually, the setting is that of a live stage show, rather than the metafictional world of the show itself; players are actually assuming control of Kanda Momo, the actress who is supposedly portraying the heroine. In addition to featuring a female protagonist at a time when this was rare, the game is notable for an element considered quite risqué for the time: Momo frequently has to avoid a photographer in the audience looking to take a pantyshot, and she will become momentarily embarrassed (stunned) if he succeeds.
- Singer Momoi Haruko covers and cosplays as Wonder Momo for her album.
- For the video game IDOLM@STER, Wonder Momo's costume is available for the girls to wear.
