Viktor Ivanovich Belenko was a Soviet pilot who is best known for defecting to the West while flying his MiG-25 'Foxbat' jet fighter, allowing the West to examine the MiG-25 and analyse its capabilities for the first time. He became an American citizen due to his defection.
