van gogh (fate)
Foreigner-class Servant seen in Fate/Grand Order. She is a genderswapped version of Vincent Van Gogh, a Dutch post-impressionist painter who is among the most famous and influential figures in the history of Western art, though he was considered a failure and a madman during his lifetime. His most famous paintings include The Starry Night, Cafe Terrace at Night, and the Sunflowers series.
It is revealed later that the named servant is not in anyway related to Van Gogh but instead is Clytie, a water nymph and daughter of Oceanus and Tethys from Greek Mythology, and her existence is more in line with the Alter Egos where they are goddesses and deities forced into a mixed existence of human form.
Vincent Van Gogh in Fate has the ability to transform Servants into Gods through his artwork thus he was targeted by the Outer Gods who desired him for their plans. However, rather than submitting to their wills, he killed himself in an act of defiance that carried over with him even as a Heroic Spirit forcing the Outer Gods to instead create another "Van Gogh" using his powers and memories and mixing his Spirit Origin/Saint Graph with that of Clytie's, creating a cruel combination of Clytie (her body), "Vincent"(his abilities) and with power of that of an Outer God/Foreigners'
Their being as a Servant thus becomes an endless struggle of conflicting existence, where Vincent will constantly try to kill himself by various curses (as seen from their first ability; Void Space Fine Arts), and Clytie, who is determined to stay alive, will defy his attempts (gaining self "Guts").
