uss arizona (bb-39)
The USS Arizona (BB-39) was the second and last of the Pennsylvania-class battleship built for the United States Navy. The ship was laid down in 1914 and commissioned two years later in 1916.
Arizona is infamously known as the only battleship that was lost to the Imperial Japanese Navy during the Attack on Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941. While the other battleships were recovered after the attack, Arizona suffered a magazine detonation that completely destroyed the ship. After the war, the USS Arizona Memorial was built over its wreck.
