the slap
A 2008 novel by Christos Tsiolkas following 8 characters' perspectives after a man controversially slaps someone else's child at a gathering. Later adapted into two different live action television series - an Australian production in 2011, and an American production in 2015.
The series is most notable for inspiring a parody segment in the Australian sketch comedy series Open Slather, titled The Slap 2, which features a man slapping multiple people in succession after the initial slap. The parody went on to become a meme, seeing remixes and parodies of it's own throughout the internet.
