tear ring saga
Tear Ring Saga: Utna Heroes Saga (ティアリングサーガ ユトナ英雄戦記) is a Japanese Tactical role-playing-game directed and designed by Shouzou Kaga, the original creator of the Fire Emblem series, this game is a spiritual successor of his original series developed with his own company (Tirnanog) alongside publisher Enterbrain, originally released for the Playstation 1 in May 24th, 2001.
The story follows the perspectives of the two main characters, Runan's and Holmes's, in a world fighting against the growing Zoa Empire.
Tear Ring Saga shares many elements with old school Fire Emblem in mechanics, aesthetics, tropes, etc. The game is, among other things, known for being part of a legal dispute between Shouzou Kaga (& his collaborators) and Nintendo (the Fire Emblem copyright holders) over the similarities between the two series, which ultimately ended up creating legal predecent for similar old-school inspired projects.
