siege of bastogne
The Siege of Bastogne (French pronunciation: [bas.tɔɲ] roughly Ba-STO-nyuh, rather than BAS-tone, Bastnach in German) was an engagement in December 1944 between American and German forces at the Belgian town of Bastogne, as part of the larger Battle of the Bulge during the last part of World War II in Europe.
The siege ended with a costly, but very important, American victory.
