shishimai
Japanese lion dance. Generally performed during the Japanese New Year and on Buddha's Birthday, or as part of noh and kabuki performances.
The shishimai costume usually features a red lacquered wooden (or plastic) mask with visible teeth, white hair and a green "robed" body. The "robe" section sometimes has swirly wind/cloud patterns done in white.
The lion noh mask worn by Hata no Kokoro is the same mask as the shishimai mask.
