Battlecruiser, lead ship of her class. Designed after the Anglo-German Naval Agreement of 1935 as a response to the dunkerque class. Was with her sister in most missions during the early part of the war. Was sunk by HMS Duke of York in 1943 when she attempted to intercept a convoy bound for Russia.
