russian liberation army
The Russian Liberation Army (German: Russische Befreiungsarmee; Russian: Русская освободительная армия, abbreviated as РОА) was a pro-Axis military formation, primarily composed of Russians, that fought under German command during World War II. Active from 1942 until 1945, the army was led by a defected Soviet Army general, Andrey Vlasov.
The personnel were distinguishable by the shoulder patches bearing the blue saltire on white background design of the St. Andrew's Flag (Russian Naval Jack), ushankas, cockades on military hats that bear the white-blue-red Russian tricolor or sometimes such stripes that were painted on their Stahlhelme.
