pincers (tool)
A tool similar to pliers that is used to pinch, cut or pull an object. They differ from pliers by concentrating the force to a point or edge that is perpendicular to the length of the tool. They're designed so that the end of the jaws can be brought close to surfaces, such as when working to remove nails from wood.
Pincers heated until they're red hot have been used as a tool for torture since roman times.
