perth (kancolle)
パース パース(艦隊これくしょん) パース(艦これ) Perth
Kantai Collection's depiction of HMAS Perth (D29), drawn by Kusada Souta. HMAS Perth was one of three modified Leander-class light cruisers used by the Royal Australian Navy during the early part of World War II. She was originally called HMS Amphion before being renamed after the capital city of the state of Western Australia. She is the game's first Australian shipgirl.
Visually, Perth has purple eyes and long blonde hair tied in a braided bun with a braid across the front. She wears a school uniform consisting of a short-sleeved white dress shirt underneath a green vest with a blue necktie, a blue pleated plaid skirt, a pair of green thighhighs, and brown loafers. Her machinery includes a pair of adapted turrets and a searchlight. She also has a green cape draped over her left shoulder, fastened by a large badge that strangely resembles the Icelandic flag and six seven-pointed stars which resemble those found on the Australian flag.
Because she is originally British, she does not exhibit the stereotypical mannerisms and preferences associated with Australians. She does make a reference to Vegemite, a popular Australian sandwich spread, and is often accompanied by a koala in fan art (due to one clinging to a fairy version of her, the 6-inch Twin Rapid Fire Gun Mount Mk.XXI fairy).
She was originally commissioned for the Royal Navy on 15 June 1936 and was sold to the Royal Australian Navy in June 1939. She was sunk during the Battle of Sunda Strait on 1 March 1942.
