passover

A major Jewish festival that commemorates the Biblical story of the Israelites’ Exodus from slavery in ancient Egypt. This story is recorded in the Hebrew Bible’s Book of Exodus. The holiday begins on the 15th day of the Hebrew month of Nisan and lasts for seven days in Israel (and among some liberal Jewish communities worldwide), or eight days in many traditional communities outside of Israel.
