order of the patriotic war
A Soviet military decoration that was awarded to armed regulars, security, and partisans during World War II (also known as the Great Patriotic War, hence the order's name).
It consists of a gold/silver rayed five-pointed star alongside a red five-pointed star, crossed with a saber and a Mosin-Nagant, and a central disc with the hammer and sickle inside. Certain portrayals (such as Pamiat Merkuria (retrofit)) may replace the communist symbol for another to be acceptable to certain audiences, and/or may omit the crossed weapons.
