northern ocean princess
Japanese name: 北方棲姫 (Romaji Hoppou Seiki, literally "northern-dwelling princess")
E2 Stage boss of Kantai Collection's Aleutian Islands / Midway Islands Summer 2014 Event. Also known as "Northern Princess", and based off Dutch Harbor.
The youngest by appearance of the Abyssal "Princesses", she is often depicted as the child character of said fleet. Due to similar appearances, Seaport Princess is often seen as the parent-like figure, and Airfield Princess as her elder sister. She is also shown together with Midway Princess and Aircraft Carrier Princess, whose first appearances are in the same Summer Event. She is also associated with Ryuujou, as the Akutan Zero (see below) originally belonged to her.
The nickname ほっぽちゃん ("Hoppo-chan") comes from the first two kanji of her name (pronounced "Hoppo"). あくたん ("Akutan") comes from the Akutan Zero, a Mitsubishi A6M Zero fighter plane which crashed on Akutan Island but was recovered largely intact by the US following the Dutch Harbor campaign.
Her sudden overwhelming popularity led the developers to turn her into a mainstay for 3-5. Because of this, she also has numerous seasonal CG:
- Christmas 2014 (and onwards): Based on her "yelling" portrait, she wears an "abysallized" santa hat while carrying a present box (with an abyssal mouth, of course). Part of her machinery has turned into a christmas tree and her airplanes have been turned into ornaments.
- Rainy Season 2015 (and onwards): Based on her "running" portrait, she replaces her Zero plane with an abyssalized teruterubouzu and umbrella. She also appears to be looking at her umbrella instead of looking "at the viewer".
- Fall 2015 (and onwards): Based on her yelling portrait, she makes sign that there's no saury where she is (and indeed, you cannot gather saury from her) instead of yelling.
- New Year 2016: She happily holds some kagami mochi.
- Valentines 2016: She blushingly holds some fine chocolates in a box (with a mouth, of course).
- Sukiya Promotion: She is happily eating a serving of Sukiya's gyuudon while her hungry aircraft pleads for her to share some of her food.
- New Year 2017: She wears a furisode and haori set while her machinery has been replaced by abysallized versions of New Year paraphernalia.
Her catchphrase kaere! (カエレ!) is officially translated as "Go back!", but a popular alternate translation has it as "Go home!".
Voiced by Kanemoto Hisako.
