mu ren zhuang
A training dummy used in wing chun kung fu. Usually made of wood, the typical model takes the form of a sturdy vertical post with several "arms" protruding from the front, vaguely resembling outstretched arms and legs. Practitioners train by striking the "limbs" and body of the dummy in various prescribed ways, building speed and precision. One example of a cinematic use of a mu ren zhuang can be found in the 1995 Jackie Chan film Rumble in the Bronx.
