moa (animal)
Latin: Dinornithiformes Order
The extinct moa was a type of flightless bird endemic to New Zealand. There were 9 species, the largest of which reached about 12' in height and weighed about 510lb.
Moa were hunted to extinction in about 1300-1440 by the Māori. The primary non-human predator of the moa was Haast's eagle.
