mizuho (kancolle)
Kantai Collection character. The personification of the Japanese seaplane tender Mizuho.
Appearance
She has grey eyes, very long black hair tied low with a lacy hair decoration, hair decorations shaped like rice stalks on her temples and long sidelocks with hair tubes with red hair ribbons.
She wears a green dress in a vaguely hakama skirt style with an oversized obi, and a white lace jacket with long, furisode-style detached sleeves leading to bridal gauntlets. She also wears fishnet kneehighs under white-and-red high-heeled sandals. Medium damage reveals white lace panties with red ribbon trimming similar to a miko's sleeves.
Her combat gear includes an anti-air turret set upon a Shinto offertory pedestal with a shide hanging off it. On her back rests a miniature ship's stern carrying multiple crane (machine)s and a radio antenna.
CGs
She has many holiday portraits due to her illustrator working at Kadokawa. Most of her holiday art involves replacing the object on her pedestal while changing little else on her portrait.
- Fall 2015: She wears a chartreuse yukata with a checkered and flower motif. She is evidently dressed for a festival.
- New Years 2016: Kagami mochi on her pedestal.
- Setsubun 2016: Masu filled with beans and other setsubun goodies on her pedestal.
- Valentines 2016: She holds a chocolate box instead of her pedestal.
- Sukiya Collaboration (White Day 2016): A gyuudon set on her pedestal for a promotion with Sukiya.
- Spring 2016: A bouquet of flowers with a self-patterned package on her pedestal.
- Rainy Season 2016: Hydrangeas on her pedestal. She also holds a self-patterned umbrella behind her head with a teruterubouzu resembling Seaplane Tender Princess hanging from the handle.
- Summer 2016: A serving of ujikintoki on her pedestal.
- Nakau Collaboration (Concurent with Fall 2016): Fully redrawn for the Nakau promotion, she carries a bowl of Nakau's gyuudon on her pedestal.
- Christmas 2016: Carries some sort of dessert on her pedestal. Besides that, she wears a santa-fied version of her usual outfit with numerous pom-poms and fur trim along with a santa hat.
- Hinamatsuri 2017: Carries a pair of Hina Dolls on her pedestal, one resembling herself as the Empress doll and one resembling Commandant Teste as the Empreror doll. Upon being damaged, the dolls seemingly spring into life...
- Halloween 2017: Carries a jack-o'-lantern recipient filled with candy on her pedestal. She also wears an orange variant of her usual outfit, a small witch hat and numerous halloween-themed stickers and clips on her clothes and gear.
- Summer 2018: Wears a bikini of her usual colors and sunflower ornaments instead of her ear-of-rice ornaments. She also has an innertube around her waist resembling a large chartreuse abyssal lifebuoy surrounded by morning glories. This art has distinctively pastel-like hues. Upon being damaged, she is being raided by more abyssal lifebuoys of unusual colors.
- Autumn 2018: Carries roasted sweet potatoes on her pedestal. Her ear-of-rice ornaments have been replaced with maple leaves.
Personality
She has a soft-spoken, demure personality. She is also noted for having an appearance similar to Seaplane Tender Princess.
History
Historically, she was sunk very early in the war in May 2nd, 1942 by the USS Drum, a Gato-class submarine off the coast of Japan.
Trivia
She was first introduced in the Summer 2015 event. She was illustrated and designed by Akira.
While her name literally means "Young ear of rice", it typically refers to an abundance of rice or a bountiful harvest. Alternatively, it can refer to yet another name for Japan: Mizuho no Kuni, the "Country of Abundant Rice".
